Side quests
get a bad rap.
But I see them as very serious, very delightful detours that actually allow the main thing, the meaning thing, and the marketplace thing to, well, do their thing. It’s taken me a long time to figure that out. What goes where. And why. And how. And when.
My side quests center my very specific preferences, desire, ease, imagination, play, and joy. They are where I remind myself to have fun — to explore things the way I want to explore them. Not for labor. Not for productivity. Just for me. They are the essential pieces of magical dreaming in my everyday life that parallel (and propel!) my big life’s work. I love that for me.
