REPUBLIC OF AKITA
GLOBAL
Making new worlds real at the intersection of the personal, the collective, & the narrative space in between since 2001.
Slow-crafted with time, skill, exploration, & care, Republic of Akita Global is a Kaira Akita-led, sociopersonal venture portfolio grounded in one storied question — how do we release the limits of old worlds and build new, liberating worlds of our own instead? Our past, present, and future lived body of work takes this question from abstract possibility to tangible reality one intimate, worldbuilding idea at a time.
Join us in thinking differently — and actually making it real — from our new worlds in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Johannesburg, Capetown, and London to yours.

Celebrating The Worlds That Were.
For over two decades, ROAG founder Kaira Akita has lived & worked with an intuitive genius for making new worlds real for herself and others while also feeling the squeeze of limiting, old world systems at every turn. The result? She’s collected a deeply personal & powerful narrative archive of grief, growth, and gratitude worth sharing (and celebrating!) as she approaches twenty five years of worldbuilding in 2026. Because only when we give language & ceremony to The Worlds That Were can we truly embrace the new worlds to come. Let’s celebrate and learn from the past, together.

OUR BODY OF WORK FOR THE FUTURE
What new worlds are possible after the global human burnout of late-stage capitalism? At ROAG, we’re placing our bets on The Creation Age — a golden era of shared humanity where slow, steady, and small offer new worlds of being, thinking, and doing that actually feel good to live in. Here’s ours.
Our Worlds. From A to G.

A category-defining talent, Kaira Akita is an artist, founder, and creative exec using the power of story to make new worlds real for herself, her people, and world-class brands & organizations fighting the good fight outside the limits of traditional capitalist systems. Her gifted-divergent thinking style plays equally well with ideas, individuals, identities, and infrastructures — ensuring that her body of work is infinitely diverse and yet, still singular and uniquely her own.
Kaira earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Georgia and started her career as a nonprofit arts junior executive before segueing out front as one of the pioneering local actresses in Atlanta’s early entertainment scene — best known for fan favorite roles in Why Did I Get Married (Keisha), The Family That Preys (Robin), and the Sundance film turned BET’s first scripted television series, Somebodies (Diva). Additionally, her directing and development projects have been featured at Women in Film Los Angeles’ Mentor Circle Program, the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival, Niecy Nash’s Chocolate Chick Inc. production company, Kids at Play, BET, Food Network, Hallmark Channel, TV One, and most recently, the 2024 HerArts Film Lab in Paestum, Italy.
Kaira was born in Washington DC and raised in Wiesbaden, Germany as a first-generation global creative Black girl with her parents, Willie and Donna, and her sister Kia. She lives, works, & rests in her own sweet (s)pace between Los Angeles, Atlanta, Johannesburg, Capetown, and London.
