For the past few years, I've been developing & directing a solo show for one of the most anointed, committed, and courageous talents I've ever met - Candace Nicholas-Lippman. I'm so excited to finally get this out of development and on stage for a special preview performance on Jan. 28, 2018. Collaborating with Candace and helping her tell her story has been such an intimate, challenging, and rewarding experience and I'm honored to be a part of such an amazing artist in bloom. The one and only Jayda Atkinson asked me to give some words of insight and inspiration for her Motivational Monday Interview Feature. The topic? Perseverance. Didn't realize I had so much to say...Jayda's energy & anointing always puts me in a good flow. You can listen to us chat about perseverance, and how it relates to expansion, clarity, courage, & re-positioning, HERE.
On Oct. 12, 2007, ten years ago today, Why Did I Get Married hit theaters. Wow. Unbelievable. So much appreciation for everyone who has given me so much love over the years. I wrote a little something in celebration/reflection. Read it HERE.
Catch me as Simone's (Brittany O'Grady) therapist in Episode 202 of Lee Daniel's STAR on FOX. Directed by Chris Robinson, this was a really rewarding shoot for me personally. The role was small, but it was a huge experience for me as it was my first time on major network television, I got to reconnect with some familiar faces, and I gave myself total freedom to play vs. perform. Plus, all the young actresses were so sweet, talented, and professional. A great cast, set, and crew!
I'm guest-starring in Episode 414 as Claudia, the no-nonsense salon owner that Niecy (Raven Goodwyn) hopes will give her a second chance at a job. Filming this was surreal for me, as there were several instances that reminded of my time filming Somebodies on BET back in 2008. This was an enlightening growth experience for me as an artist. Looking forward to Claudia's return (fingers crossed) in Season 5.
